Flowing Hair Liberty left; small eagle on a cloud within a wreath. Logan-McCloskey (LM) marriages catalog the dies.
History
The half dime — not the nickel — was the original five-cent silver coin, authorized in 1792. The 1792 half disme is a pattern/regular-issue argument of its own. 1794–95 Flowing Hair pieces are scarce type coins from the same portrait used on the dollar and half.
