Design
Incuse Indian and eagle — Pratt’s sunken design, unique with the quarter eagle. Soft rims, no high points to wear off in the usual way.
History
Roosevelt’s other gold experiment besides Saint-Gaudens. Critics said the incuse design would collect dirt; it did, and it also created a series where 'wear' reads differently. 1909-O is the only New Orleans Indian $5; 1929 is the scarce last year.
