History

The golden dollar was meant to succeed where SBA failed, with color as the cue. Cheerios dollars (2000, enhanced tail feathers) were a cereal promotion and a modern rarity. 2000-P experimental 'wounded eagle' and presentation pieces exist. Since 2009 the reverse rotates through Native history while Sacagawea remains. Circulation is limited; most are struck for collectors and Native American program distribution.
